Dementia Awareness Week: What are the early signs?

We know that when we get older, our memory may not be what it once was. However, dementia is not a natural part of aging. Dementia is a disease that damages the nerve cells in the brain.

If you’re worried your loved one might have dementia, here are some of the signs to look  out for:

With some types of dementia, the person may have difficulty knowing what is real and what isn’t. They may see or hear things that are not really there (hallucinations), or strongly believe things that are not true (delusions).

At Rosewood we have several homes with specialist nursing that can provide care for someone with dementia. We provide our residents with as much support as they need within a safe space. Nurses are available 24/7, activities are adapted to suit each individual and rooms are spacious and homely.

We know it can be hard taking care of a loved one with dementia. We don’t specify visiting hours and friends and families can visit whenever they wish to. This means you can spend quality time with your loved one and leave the care requirements to us.
